Pemuteran

Located in north west Bali, the charm of Pemuteran lies beneath the surface of its calm waters in the many diving spots and the amazing Underwater Temple Garden with statues at 15 meters and the temple at 30 meters. The secluded beaches and coastal hillside make for an especially tranquil location. With black volcanic sand beaches and coconut and palm trees lining the shore, there is a spiritual ambience that radiates through the landscape.  With Menjangan Island close by, this is the perfect place to explore and unwind as you leave the frenetic pace of southern Bali behind. ‘Pemuteran’ means the turning point, and a place to come back to!

Menjangan Island

Menjangan Island located off the north west coast of Bali has been featured as Bali’s most recognised dive site since the late 1970’s. Known for its extensive reefs, calm conditions and  and relatively sheltered location, Menjangan Island has remained a favourite with many divers despite its damage and recovery from a coral-eating Crown of Thorns infestation and coral bleaching caused by El Niño in the late 90s. It is protected as part of the West Bali National Park.

Menjangan is famous for its wall-diving; with walls starting at 10 meters and descending to between 25 and 60 meters. With great visibility (up to 50m at certain times of the year) and with diving suitable year round, there are soft corals, gorgonians, standard reef fish species and a small wreck to be explored. The more popular dive sites at Menjangan Island are The Eel Garden, Pos II and, for the more experienced, a deep dive (40m) to the Anker Wreck, a 150-year-old wooden boat with the first anchor resting at 6-8 meters from the surface, and a second anchor at 30 meters.  With abundant marine life and calm, protected waters, Menjangan offers diving conditions and hours of interesting exploration for beginners and the more experiences.
