Amankila Resorts is a tranquil beach resort located on a hillside overlooking the Lombok Strait in East Bali, with Mount Agung providing a stunning backdrop. The name “Amankila” means “peaceful hill” in Indonesian. The resort is located in Karangasem, Bali’s most traditional regency, and is a 90-minute car ride from Denpasar Airport.
The resort features 31 stilted suites that offer breathtaking views of the ocean and are designed to reflect the nearby Taman Soekasada Ujung, the Royal Water Palace. Some of the suites, such as the Kilasari and Indrakila Suites, and the two-bedroom Suite, feature private swimming pools. Elevated walkways connect all the suites to the resort’s entrance pavilion, restaurant areas, and the signature three-tier swimming pool overlooking the ocean.
Villa’s Restaurant serves both Western and Indonesian cuisine, while the adjacent Bar offers views of the sea. The Terrace serves a selection of Asian and Western fare, and the Beach Club offers a simple menu of salads and pizzas. The Beach Club, located below the resort and set back from the beach in a peaceful coconut grove, features Villa’s largest swimming pool surrounded by coconut palms and partially shaded by a frangipani tree. Eight secluded lounging bales line the beach.
Villa’s additional facilities include the Fitness Pavilion and Massage Pavilion, offering yoga classes and massages in-suite or hidden in the coconut grove alongside the Beach Club. The Library overlooks the top tier of the main swimming pool, while the Boutique and Gallery showcase Balinese art, crafts, and antiques.
The resort offers a range of activities, including watersports, cooking classes, snorkelling excursions, and sunset cruises. Guests can also enjoy guided treks and cycling tours or visit local craft villages to explore further afield.
