Bali, currently one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world, attracts millions of foreign and domestic tourists every year. One of the main attractions of Bali is its well-preserved nature and culture.

Given the above, the maintenance and preservation of Bali’s natural and cultural heritage are essential to ensure it remains intact and to provide comfort to all tourists visiting Bali.

In order to realize the sustainability and comfort of tourists while vacationing in Bali, the Bali Provincial Government through the BALI PROVINCIAL REGULATION NUMBER 6 OF 2023 ON THE COLLECTION FROM FOREIGN TOURISTS FOR THE PROTECTION OF CULTURE AND NATURAL ENVIRONMENT IN BALI has decreed that starting February 14, 2024, a fee of USD 10 will be charged to all foreign tourists visiting Bali.

The purposes of collecting this fee from foreign tourists are as follows, according to Bali Provincial Regulation Number 6 of 2023:

  1. Protection of customs, traditions, arts-culture, and local wisdom of the Balinese people;
  2. The glorification and maintenance of Culture and Natural Environment which are the Tourist Attractions in Bali;
  3. Improvement of the quality of service and the organization of Cultural Tourism in Bali;
  4. To serve as a guideline in the implementation and management of the Collections from Foreign Tourists.

CUSTOMS DECLARATION:

Before departing for Bali, all travelers are required to complete an online customs declaration form at least 72 hours prior to their departure. It’s essential to keep a copy of your barcode generated from the declaration form, as you’ll need it to exit the airport upon arrival in Bali. The customs declaration form can be accessed at https://bcngurahrai.beacukai.go.id/ecd/.

VISA ON ARRIVAL (VOA):

Upon arrival in Bali, travelers who are eligible for Visa on Arrival (VOA) must pay a fee of USD 10. This can be completed online prior to arrival or paid at the VOA desk upon arrival at the airport. It’s advisable to have the necessary funds ready in cash or be prepared to pay using acceptable payment methods at the VOA desk. The online VOA application can be accessed at https://evisa.imigrasi.go.id/front/login.

These processes are crucial for ensuring a smooth entry into Bali and complying with local regulations. Additionally, they contribute to the sustainability efforts outlined in Bali Provincial Regulation Number 6 of 2023, aimed at preserving the island’s cultural and natural heritage for the enjoyment of present and future generations of tourists.
