Individualbali.com – Local people and foreign nationals living in Canggu sent a petition to the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo. The petition is entitled “End Extreme Noise in Canggu”. In addition to President Jokowi, the petition was also submitted to the Governor of Bali and related institutions. In addition to protesting against noise pollution in Canggu, the petition also contains complaints against tourists who misbehave while in Bali, especially in Canggu.
The petitioner’s name is P Dian, she explained in her petition that they were disturbed by the blaring noises emanating from bars and beach clubs in Canggu. So far, more than 6000 people have signed the petition.”For a while already, we have been seeing Bali, which had been famous for its spiritual peace, natural beauty, and culture; which had won the title of the number 1 island in the world, (not so slowly) becoming ruined, replaced by extremely loud rowdy bars, beach clubs, night clubs, with ugly behaviors happening right next to our residences and next to sacred Balinese temples. Enough is enough. We can no longer stay silent. Together we must take action now and we must not allow the real Bali obliterated from the face of the earth, before it is completely too late.” wrote P Dian in her petition on Change.org.
The Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno, reacted to the petition, urging tourism actors to comply with applicable local regulations. “Respect the surrounding community so that they can rest. We hope that the officers will take firm action to maintain the harmonization of nature, culture and humans in Bali,” said Sandi, in a weekly briefing, Monday (12/9/2022). “Let’s uphold the prevailing customs and norms so that we can maintain the title of Bali as the happiest destination in the world,” he said.
